About Me

Hi, I’m Greg, and my life has been intertwined with juvenile diabetes since I was five. Diagnosed in 1960, back when information and treatments were sparse, my journey started from a place of fear and uncertainty. The doctors told my mom that I would likely only live until the age of 12 due to this disease. Imagine hearing that as a single mother with three kids to raise! But my mother wasn’t one to accept such grim predictions.

Determined to rewrite the narrative, she sought out the best pediatric diabetes specialists she could find. Her resilience and commitment laid the foundation for what would become a life full of learning and growth. Thanks to her unwavering support, I was introduced to leading experts and received the most advanced education, treatments, and tools of those times.

Now, at 70, I can proudly say that I’ve lived a rich and fulfilling life, defying the odds with minimal complications. My journey was not just about surviving but thriving, equipped with the lessons and experiences from decades of discovery and adaptation.

These experiences and insights were pivotal in sparking my passion to help others facing similar challenges. In my opinion, there’s no greater gift than sharing what I’ve learned along the way to make a difference in the lives of children and their parents battling juvenile diabetes. This leads us to how GlycoMentor was created, a platform dedicated to providing the essential tools and resources for managing juvenile diabetes effectively.
